You could be looking a number of problems, bent arms, bent track rods or worse a bent subframe.

A lot of ZR owners have no issues on standard shocks with 30mm springs. I had my old one on 30mm AVO springs and the dampers worked fine (apart from the ride being a bit harsh).

If its a for a Rover 200 bubble (1995 to 1999) it will fit but won't lower it the same. i.e. 30mm on a R200 is barely 5-10mm on a ZR.

Yeah but I've always preferred the VII, has the "Up-to-date" exterior but whilst still retaining the proper rally look. Driven IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X Evos and enjoyed the VII the most lol.

- full press and release the throttle pedal 5 times
- Ignition off
- Start the engine and let the revs fluctuate and settle.

As said, its WAY down on compression. could a lot more than the head gasket leaking. If its been standing I'm guessing the rings are goosed.

Does the rear wiper work at all? If not then check the wiring at the top right corner of the tailgate behind the rubber boot. Common for the wires there to rub through.
