    rusty springs

I had the car jacked up earlier, looking for a good place to rest on axle stands, when I noticed that my front suspension springs are very very rusty, so much so that the outer coating of the spring is coming away, like flaking paint.

    Is this bad?

    Should I replace them?

If so, would this be a good excuse to put lowering springs on instead?
