Wow, 2 months since I pulled it apart!
    Who's missed me?

    Few small updates.
The car itself still looks very similar to those photos in my last post.
The warped head went for skimming, haven't had it back yet.
In the meantime, I decided as it was in bits, it made sense to have an upgrade or 2.

This morning I took delivery of a VVC inlet manifold, 160 injectors (although I'll probably stick to the 105's for now) and a 52mm throttle body.
This evening I'm going to go pick a spare head up, with a set of TF135 cams already installed.
It's already flat and ready to fit, although I'm probably going to get it port matched to the inlet before fitting it all in one go.
Then to finish off, a remap from KMaps (formerly Z and F) should do it nicely.

Been talking to Mark there, and he thinks that with that setup I should be seeing between 125-135bhp from the trusty 1.4

I did mention my future plans, but he couldn't really help as they've not tried it there.

    Mega update!

Been quiet in here as I've been rushed off my feet since the last post.

Something along the lines of bought an MR2, stripped an MR2, bought ANOTHER clio 172 (yes, that's 2 in 4 months, plus the one I already owned), stripped 2 clios and borrowed a Civic Type R EP3 to actually drive.

But, I took last week off work to finally get the ZR tweaked and rebuilt

As of my last post, I had a nice new shiny head, my old one was off being skimmed and I had a VVC inlet and 135 cams sat there.
Well, it made sense whilst it was in bits to do some headwork, so the new head was port matched to the VVC inlet.

New waterpump went on, along with Payen headgasket (my liners are sat dead flush)

Head went on with the VVC inlet (yes, I still need to chance the injectors to the 1.4 ones instead of the VVC ones)

And in go the 135 cams. I didn't actually fit them or the cam ladder until the head was torqued down for easier access to the head bolts.

It's not up and running yet as I need a new set of aux belts.
These ones had been off previously and refitted, but I don't trust the look of them!

Hoping it's back in one piece by the end of this weekend.

    More updates!

New belts arrived, waiting on a thermostat and then it'll be finished.
In the meantime I've bought ANOTHER(!) Clio 172 (yes, that makes 4!)

    Morning all,
In my recent absence I've started on my next mod for the beast, this time it's form rather than function (although I hope it works!)
I was talking to a friend of mine with a Typhoon ZR about doing a projector / HID conversion on the headlights, although time constraints delayed me starting it a little.
He went ahead and built a set himself, before promptly selling the 'Phoon and picking up a mk1 ZS.

Fortunately he hadn't fitted the lights, so I whipped them off him inc. a full HID kit for £20! They weren't quite what I had in mind for the 3dr, so they went on the 5dr instead, leaving me with a spare set of headlights to experiment with hehehe.

Not yet finished, but here's a taster of what I've done so far.
1 Bonus point for anyone who can tell me what I'm up to, and how I plan on keeping it fully MOT legal.

I'll update with more pictures as I progress

Took advantage of the epic weather over the bank holiday weekend and went outside to attack the ZR!
Who remembers how long it's been since my engine was this complete!

Just need to get the belts on, fill the system and do an oil change and she's ready for MOT!

Hoping it goes aswell as it should, be nice to have it back on the road, rather than just taking up room in the garage,
