    My Dad's Mk1 boot issue

    Hello,

My dad has a Mk1 ZR and has an issue with his boot.

It doesn't lock. Using the key or the fob.

Is there anything with the MK1's thats a common fault or anyone have any suggestions?

Luckily, if he locks the car and the boot gets opened (due to being unlocked) it does sound the alarm.

    Any help appreciated,

    Thanks

I'd say its something to do with the mechanism and solenoid

I had the issue on my mk1 zr 2tdi.at the back by the boot there is a rubber protection "sleeve" at the top right of the boot by the hinges...I had found this cause my brake light keeps blowing.so I trace the wire up into that sleeve and found that there where broken wires that was shorting out...so after matching the wires and soldering them back and Appling heat shrink...I found that my boot now locks with the remote
