Thought i'd share some pics of my latest project/daily, it started off as a 1.4 I bought for £400 half way through November 15, its had a hard life but I think its going well considering how long ive had it, its now a 1.8 turbo, hopefully around the 220bhp mark, ill get it on the dyno next week some time hopefully . It is a work in progress so don't be too brutal.
Standard mate, its pretty much a standard 1.8k but with a few better parts like the n series gasket set with reinforced oil rail etc. I got the block with internals off a friend, one of the pistons had a big piece of metal missing from between the rings
Ah yeah I've used 2 N series on mine now, first one leaked all tho I'm not sold its any better than the land rover HG tbh but the rail is definitely a big improvement. Be interesting to see your horse power a lit I people I know running K turbos on Emerald ecu with piper cams and forged pistons there normally only around 210-220bhp
Mark from kmaps said mine should hit 217bhp with a decent inlet and exhaust, its all been run in properly so I'm hoping for at least 210. The 1.6 I built hit 118bhp with just a vvc inlet Mani and exhaust so I'm hopeful, ive covered less that 3.5k miles on this n series gasket so far and it seems ok at the minute, ill be disappointed if it fails
Got 194bhp 212ft lb.. Developed boost cut just before the dyno run so now I'm going to spend the weekend trying to find out why.. Got some new coils and leads on the way, hopefully they turn up tomorrow absolutely gutted!
Replaced vac lines, coils, leads and inlet manifold gasket, now it doesn't cut but the boost looks abit unstable higher up the revs, getting a wideband on it this weekend hopefully, running out of ideas
