    Key fob problem

    Hi there,
I've just replaced my battery in the key fob,now it won't work, can't start car, I did follow manual closely.
How do I reset/get it to work?I can manually open just the driver's door but that's all.
Sad thing is ,it was all working before I changed the battery!!!!!!!!!
    2004 diesel.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

Sounds stupid but you did put it in the right way? and that the metal strip on the bottom part is still there and not damaged?

Thanks for your response,No,the CL doesn't work nor does the dash lock button.I have definitely put a valid new battery in the fob the correct way round.I've paid £20 for the code, followed the instructions,no joy!! Tried again adding 1 to 2nd and 4th digit ,still no joy .
Anyone else have any instructions to start from ground zero ,possibly earthing positive lead to earth?? To drain and reset ECU or is this no use?
    Any help is most appreciated.Thanks.

Have you checked the fuses just to be safe? If not I would say the relay has failed in the body control unit for the central locking which you can repair your self if your ok with circuit boards and solder for around £10.
