I'm on Accelera Alpha, cheap and grippy, I've put them through their paces and they hold up well, although they're not a fan of diesel and rain haha!

Coming from a ZT background the budget tyre of choice is the Nexen N8000. Very cheap if you shop around online,

So much so I have just put a set of 205/45/16 on my new to me facelift ZR 1.4. About £45 from tyre traders and £50 to fit all 4 locally.

I am fussy about tyres on my cars and would not go any cheaper than these. Get them whilst they are cheap...

Running them at MGR pressures with no worse ride. They are brilliant in the wet, ideal for our climate

In facelift handbook this size is listed as a 16" option so not a mod or any insurance issues...

Have a look at Vredsteins, they're very popular on the Seat forum I'm on.

ALTHOUGH I happily recommend Continental SportContact tyres. Not cheap (£100 a corner on my Leon 225/40 R18) but I don't see the point on skimping on tyres when it's the only thing contacting with the road and the better the rubber, the more stable the car in hard situations.

Nankang NS2 user on the ZR here as well, love them for the money, i hand a set of 15's on my MK2 and they coped doing 10 laps of the nurburgring.

Currently also using Barum Bravuris 2, on my MK3 and they stick like sh!t to the provable blanket. Current get hold of a set quick enough for my ZR when i needed them.

After two sessions of the caslte combe track the ns2 have out lived a lot of the other peoples tyres but my god some corners were hella sketchy by the end of my second session where I tried as best to give them hell they began to give out and im glad the session ended when it did.
Cheap and will last a lifetime but will not be using for track again
