Are credit cards a good idea?

I ask this as a 21year old. It's not like I need one. But I was thinking about getting one incase anything popped up breaking on the car Ect.

    Good idea or not?

If you use it well it gets your credit score up
I'm 22 and have been thinking of getting one for ages

My plan was to just use it for petrol, then pay it off at end of month.. credit score will go ^^^^ then!

Always good to have a backup plan, and as long as you pay it off and don't go into 'proper' debt then I'd say it would be a good idea

Well this is what I'm thinking. Before long I will want to start looking at my own places Ect and if I made small purchases on there but paid them off on time then surley it's not a bad idea

Yeah! Definitely a good idea. It's just making sure you don't think you "have" that money (credit card limit). If you're confident with that then it will boost rating quickly

I used tesco for a fairly big loan, best rate! So c/c would be up there with the best of them rate-wise I'd imagine

    Haha good idea!

I made the mistake of borrowing extra on my first bank loan and didn't tell the gf. I was living like a king for a while and treating her to more meals out than usual, she wasn't happy I didn't tell her..

Always best to keep them sweet :P

I've had a credit card shortly after turning 21 been using it for online purchases since it's more protected along with general purchases now and then. It's on a direct debit with my bank account so it gets paid off at the end of the month.
You have to be careful with spending since its easy to forget about it and over spend.

I recently did a credit check on myself since I got £8 for signing up for a free month on topcashback.co.uk (if youre going to sign up use this http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/lolsteve98 help one another out )
My credit rating because of the card is super high now according to it which should be useful when I come to get a mortgage out for my first place
