    as others have said, credit cards can be great for protection but just be careful not to spend beyond your means.

    I too am registered with topcashback and use it for getting money off.

    Moneysaving Expert has some good guides on them http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/ and remember you are welcome to reduce any limit providing of course you haven't spent on it. If you get a £1200 limit but think it might be too much ask them for £600 for example

    Credit cards are a good thing if you can afford to pay them off every month so you don't get charged interest. For others they can be the introduction to years of debt.

    Topcashback is a great website, had a payout of £550 quid in total from them last year!

    If you are asking about the fee on Topcashback, I think they have a 2 tier membership now, Free for most of us and a paid one which is meant to offer better cashback rates

    some cards have an annual fee, some don't, the ones with fees sometimes offer you "benefits"

    I personally always look for fee free ones

    Tesco does not have an upfront fee, my wife has a card with Tesco
