    Coilovers (again) - Home refurb

I am having some issues with the front coilovers, that I cannot adjust them.

I can loosen off the bottom/locking collar, but then cannot adjust (up or down) the top collar, to either heighten or lower it

I think I need to take them apart and get them scrubbed up nice..

I still have all 4 struts with the apex springs on, so can put them back on whilst I do it..

Any advice? I have searched the web..

    In 'laymans' terms:

step 1: take off upper mount.
    step 2: remove springs.
step 3: remove spring locking collars.
    step 4: remove lower bracket

I am aware to stay weary around the top of the shaft, as I don't want to bugger the o-rings

HAS ANYBODY ON HERE DONE THIS THEMSELVES BEFORE?

    Cheers

May be changing back to OE struts with APEX springs this coming tuesday/wednesday to get the coilovers refurbed.

Can anything be done to the springs themselves? As the paint isn't great. E.g. Get them powdercoated or something?

As I will be taking them apart, what would be the best things to clean them up with? To get a really REALLY good result? Especially to clear the threads of the crap it will have taken in?

    Cheers

Ok, had a price for powdercoating the springs (ONLY)
Main reason is due to how tatty they are.

They have let me know they'll need shot-blasting first, and included this in my price.

Is shot-blasting and powdercoating springs ok?
