Nice motors, lovely to drive, very reliable from the people i know that have them...

It would be a shame not to get an MPS though... but you wont get the lovely MPG of a diesel.

Its pretty much a focus underneath with focus suspension and brakes ect.
Rear shockers and rear a.r.b. links are prone to failing. If its got traction control fairly common for the abs modulator to fail. Luckily you can just buy the hydraulic part now which is about 200 to buy itself.
Engines, they have a DPF system on them which if you arent familiar with is basically there to catch all the diesel particulates in the cat. Then when you do a long trip it burbs it all out. If you arent doing long journeys it can block up over time. If left long enough it will require goibg to a dealer for a mabual regeneration on the diagnostic.
Also need to let the car know when its been serviced. Otherwise it may keep on trying to regen which fills the sump up with diesel. Theres a mark on the dipstick where the level shouldnt exceed. If it does this can cause the engine to run on which can destroy the engine, injectors, turbo all the sensors in the dpf cat also.
Oil change reset can either be reset with a proper mazda ids machine or some diagnostic machines like launch can do it if your garage has them.
Faulty injectors can cause oil dilution also. You need to learn the values and if they are out then they may need replaced.
The turbo actuator arm can seize causing the car not to boost. This isnt a huge issue tbh you can usually free it off.

Petrol mazda engines in contrast generally give very little agro. Inlet manifold gaskets are usually the only real issue
Finally there was a recall on certain 3s for the ehpas pump breaking down. If in doubt get in contact with your dealer and they should be able to tell you if it is needing any recalls

Just to add when the abs module fails it doesnt leak, just brings on the tcs light and the code is for primary/ secondary pressure valve or something along those lines
