    Central locking MR ZR 2004

    Hi all,

So I have a problem with the drivers side door when using the remote or dashboard button to lock/unlock the door. The passenger side functions correctly, however the drivers door is not having any of it and I have to manually unlock the door with the key (which works fine). Previously this was an intermittent problem, and the Rover MG garage couldn't identify a problem as typically it was not misbehaving when it when to them. Fast forward a few months and its now a constant problem for the drivers door.

So this feels like something electrical was loose and has now disconnected fully, or something was failing and has now died in the door.

Any thoughts/suggestions as to what it could be, or things I can look at without tearing the whole door apart?

    Cheers,
    S

    Hi Stuie382

Be interested to hear how you are getting on with your door lock, I have similar problem in that the passenger door won't unlock at all, the drivers side unlocks with the key only.

The alarm disables / albles normally with the fob, and the boot unlocks with the fob too.

I've been advised to get the SCU looked at which I started to do today...

Informed it is located behind the glove box, i took this out and found a big black box (Air-Con?) and no sign of the small black SCU....any tips?

    Lee

    Extracted and in the post!

Getting the air-con out wasn't too hard, de-gass (already empty?), move the coolant filler bottle aside, unscrew a bolt and a couple of allen screws (under the filler bottle), remove a brass valve thing, then back inside the car to unbolt, wiggle and curse at this box.

< Here's how it looks once the middle (air-con) box is out.
