    mgzr 1.4 heater hose routing?

    Hi hope someone can help.
Have a 1.4 2003 mk 1, heater cold and water doesnt seem to get through to heater matrix.
My query is.... looking in the Haynes manual ( I know, I know but it's all I've got..lol) on the 1.4 & 1.6 WITHOUT air con, the thermostat housing hose goes to the BOTTOM pipe on the heater matrix and the flow control valve hose goes to the TOP of the matrix.
BUT.. on the same engine but WITH A/C they are the other way round...???
I appreciate they are 'pencil drawings' in a haynes manual, but which is correct for a car WITHOUT a/c?

The hose to the thermostatic valve is from the bottom of the heater matrix and coils round the top outlet. Hope the photo explains. (taken from drivers side wing looking down)

The Haynes manual is definitely wrong. The heater gets hot on my son's ZR, set up as in the photo.

Hi, there's no SAAB valve on my car, the thermostat hose goes straight to the heater

That's good if heater isn't getting hot but engine upto temp correctly etc is can only be 2 things really either the matrix is blocked or the heater valve is stuck closed
