    Crankshaft pulley

    Hi
    I have just changed the timing belt on my mg zr 1.4
    The pin to locate pulley has snapped of
    Any sugestions to replace?
    Any sugestions greatfully received

    I am in sandhurst does the pulley require a puller?
    If not how does it come of?

    No don't need a puller once the bolt is undone both should just slide off

    Worth mentioning that there is no actual 'pin' to locate either the cam belt sprocket or the crankshaft pulley on the crank shaft.

    The end of the crank shaft is 'D' shaped, and the cam belt sprocket has a 'D' shaped hole through it to fit this fairly snugly. There is then a small lug on the cam belt sprocket over which a recess of the same shape on the back of the crank pulley is located to keep the two in place. It is only a very small lug, but seems to work - it is only likely to become worn or damaged if the crank pulley bolt has worked loose (which is very unlikely to happen unless the bolt has not been tightened fully - it needs to go to 205Nm).

    The crankshaft will need to be locked to get the crankshaft bolt undone - either by use of a locking tool (or suitable bar/wedge) in the teeth of the flywheel, or (very often) it can be done by putting the gear box into a high gear and having someone stand hard on the brakes while you use a long breaker bar on the bolt. Once the bolt is undone, the pulley and sprocket should simply slide off the crankshaft without too much trouble (although the pulley may occasionallyrequire a sharp tap with a hammer to free it initially).
