For Sale – MG ZR (2002) – Trophy Yellow.

This vehicle is for sale with deep regret. She has been a well-loved and much-enjoyed vehicle but piston-slap (due to forged piston and reinforced cylinder liner-wear leading to a head gasket failure) brought an end to the good times. Although, other than the pistons and the cylinder liners, the bottom end is good. The paintwork is a bit tired, some minor arch rust, and she has a broken driver door window from an attempted break-in prior to being garaged (fortunately nothing was taken).

I had hoped to win the lottery (and yes, I do play) and get her fixed up again but realise that isn’t going to happen and I really need the space in my garage freed up for another vehicle.

Over the years she has undergone a lot of work:
1. EBC Yellowstuff brake pads – front and rear
2. MG Rover big brake kit upgrade – front and rear, from ZS180 (V6)
3. Black Diamond brake discs – front and rear (front - drilled, grooved and vented; rear – drilled and grooved)
4. Goodridge braided brake hoses
5. MG XPower lowering springs
6. Powerflex – complete polybush set throughout entire car, including gear linkage bushes and engine mounts
7. Recently replaced driveshafts
8. Recently reconditioned PG1 gearbox, with Quaife LSD
9. AP Racing up-rated clutch kit
10. Ultra-light, PTP flywheel
11. Janspeed race 4-2-1 manifold (made to order)
12. Full manifold back stainless steel exhaust system, including racing cat (100cpsi) – plus Powerflex exhaust mounts
13. OMP strutbrace
14. Strengthened bottom-end oil ladder
15. Ported and polished cylinder head from Lotus Elise K Series engine, with oversized valve inlets and outlets
16. High lift fast road cams and Vernier pulleys
17. K&N Apollo induction filter
18. 52mm throttle body
19. Oil filter sandwich plate and oil cooler radiator
20. MG ZR 160 inlet manifold and plenum chamber (manifold – lower section polished)
21. Unichip ECU remapped (best output was 175bhp/222Nm torque)
22. Sparco pedals
23. 4x barely-worn Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres – 205/50 R16
24. Magnecor 8mm HT leads
25. Monogram yellow/black steering wheel
26. Full, black leather interior (excellent condition)
27. Lexus-style rear light clusters, tinted
28. LED indicator lights, reverse lights
29. Original 16” alloys, custom painted in black with yellow pinstripe around rim
30. Upgraded speakers throughout (but standard look maintained)
31. Amp, power capacitor and subwoofer (included)
32. Yellow Momo seatbelt pads x4

If you wanted, she could have a new lease of life - as a track day car or as your daily driver, with a lick of paint.

Alternatively, if you have the tools, time and patience (which I don’t currently have – and couldn’t bring myself to do to her myself), you could make a decent packet taking her apart and selling the parts on.

Sorry for the slow response - I didn't get an email message to say anyone had responded - or I would've got back to you sooner.
I am in Wolverhampton/West Midlands.
I was hoping for a grand but I am certainly open to offers. Happy for people to come and look if they would like to see it before making a decision.
