    Need help

    Hi guys

Well after getting closer to getting the ZR on the road i've checked to see why the drivers side rubs and is like a 2mm gap from the tyre.

Well my shock are a gonna, so they need replacing but from the code on the sticker it seems i got 160 springs and shocks and i can't find a answer on if i can use athese springs on any shocks as the springs just need a clean up so i just want to change the springs over.

RND 000220 red is the front (sorry only got the front off ATM)

As far as I know all the ZR's use the same damper but the diesel has a different front spring. The only over MG Rover dampers I know of are the ones for a 25 or a 25 with heavy-duty suspension i.e a 25 GTI

As John says, the dampers are the same part for all versions of the ZR - part number RND000340, so your existing springs can be fitted to a replacement damper without issue. At the rear, both dampers and springs are the same for all models. If you are wanting brand new, your biggest problem will be finding brand new front dampers as the genuine MG Rover/Delphi ones are no longer available from XPart (and Delphi are no longer manufacturing them), and as far as I know, there are no currently available aftermarket copies. You may have to make do with decent second hand ones .

It is only the front springs that differ - the 105 and 120 have the same front springs, the front springs for the 160 are fractionally longer, and the diesel front springs are significantly longer (the cast iron L series being a lot heavier).

The number you will find on the label attached to the damper will be the part number for the complete damper/spring module as supplied to MG Rover by Delphi.

The part numbers for the individual dampers and springs for the 25/ZR were posted on mg-rover.org some time back by norfie (who works for Delphi), and in case you or anyone else who sees this thread in the future wants to know, I will reproduce them here (with additional information on spring rates, also provided by norfie):

    Front (R25)
    RND 105960 - Base - spring colour, Green/Pink (REB 101990) - Damper RND 106030
    RND 105970 - Base - spring colour, Green/Grey (REB 101980)
    RND 105980 - Base (RTS) - spring colour, Green/Orange (REB 102000)
    RND 105990 - Diesel - spring colour, Green/Brown (REB 102010) - Damper RND 106040
    RND 106000 - Diesel - spring colour Green/Yellow (REB 102020)
    RND 106010 - Diesel - spring colour, Green/Green (REB 102030)
    RND 106020 - Sport (GTi) - spring colour, Green/Blue (REB 102040) - Damper RND 106050

    Front (MG)
    RND 000220 - Petrol (min) - spring colour, Blue/Red (REB 000400)- Damper RND 000340
    RND 000230 - Petrol (max) - spring colour, Blue/Blue (REB 000410)
    RND 000240 - Diesel - spring colour, Blue/Purple (REB 000420)

    Rear (all)
    RPD 102950 - Base - spring colour, Green/White (RKB 101660) - Damper RPD 102970
    RPD 102960 - Sport - spring colour, Green/Orange (RKB 101670) - Damper RPD 102980
    RPD 000140 - MG (all variants) - spring colour, Pink/Pink (RKB 000410) - Damper RPD 00290

    Spring Rates

    Front:
    Rover 25(ex Gti)......25 N/mm
    Rover 25 Gti............26 N/mm
    MG ZR (all)..............36 N/mm
    XPower................... 36N/mm

    Rear:
    Rover 25 (all)...........21 N/mm
    MG ZR (all)..............30 N/mm
    XPower....................23 - 30N/mm

The first number on each line is for the complete module, the second part number is the spring only, and the third is the part number for the damper.

Thanks for that evil, i did read all the posts on that site on that thread but for some odd reason could not get it in my head that i could just change them around as on another site it said after a certain year they changed something so after that year they kept to that change so the numbers was differ than the older OEM.

I'll see if my local scrappy has any the same if not will have to make do with what he has (non streetwise as i've tried that and they never fit my ZR rear)
