    Emissions failure, big time

So took the wifes ZR for a test today and all went well except for the emissions. The exhaust doesn't look too old but the emissions were through the roof so it looks like I'm going to be fitting a new cat and probably a new sensor too just to be on the safe side. The exhaust fumes were a bit smelly so I'm hoping it's just the under the car cat I need to replace. Time will tell.

It failed on all aspects. CO 4.93% (0.3 max) HC 420 (200 max) Lambda 0.85 (0.95-1.09) on normal tick over CO 3.71 (0.5 max) so a new under cat and lambda sensor are on the shopping list I think. Fortunately as I've been using the same place for over 20 years they will check it for me when I've done it and if it's under then it will pass and if it's over then I can still take it back later for a free re-test. Only failed on emissions and a bulb so can't complain really.

Yeah I agree that engine is pumping in way more fuel than it can handle, or there's some serious air flow issues, either way I'm finding it hard to see why the EML is not on.

Ordered both cat and sensor, then taking it back to see if it's worked.
